Abstract

Background: Preeclampsia is a leading cause of maternal and perinatal morbidity and mortality worldwide. Six percent of preeclampsia cases occur after delivery. This systematic review aims to identify and analyze factors associated with postpartum preeclampsia to support early detection and intervention strategies. Methods: This systematic review was conducted in accordance with the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) guidelines. A comprehensive search was conducted using electronic databases, including Scopus and PubMed, to identify relevant studies published between 2015 and 2025. Results: A total of 725 records were identified, and 8 studies met the inclusion criteria. These findings highlight several factors significantly associated with postpartum preeclampsia, including maternal age >30 years, race, BMI, blood pressure, magnesium sulfate use, and cesarean section. Although early detection and intervention were not directly evaluated in these studies, the identification of these risk factors suggests that targeted screening and supportive strategies may be beneficial in reducing postpartum preeclampsia. Conclusion: This review identifies demographic and clinical factors associated with postpartum preeclampsia. These findings emphasize the importance of early detection and comprehensive postpartum care to reduce risk and improve maternal health outcomes.
